Insulated Fire Rated Duct (GI)
Insulated GI fire-rated duct assemblies designed as complete tested systems for life-safety HVAC installations.
Uninsulated fire-resistant GI duct construction where the tested life-safety system does not require thermal insulation.
Non-insulated fire-rated ductwork serves defined smoke-control and fire-separation duties where the approved test construction permits an uninsulated duct shell. Indigo Sky controls seam type, reinforcement, joint sealant, hanger details and clearances to match the system evidence. Any later site-added insulation must be reviewed so it does not invalidate the tested arrangement.
Typical construction information for early coordination. Final values are governed by the selected model, approved material and project design.
| Duct shell | GI sheet, gauge and reinforcement to tested system |
|---|---|
| Protection | No thermal insulation unless added by approved design |
| Fire performance | Stability/integrity only where supported by test evidence |
| Sealing | Approved fire-resistant sealant at defined joints |
| Supports | Non-combustible, fire-rated fixing arrangement |
| Installation | Tested clearances, penetrations and access requirements |
The phrase ‘non-insulated’ does not itself establish a fire rating. The exact duct function, duration and fire-exposure direction must match valid system evidence.
